I’m a photographer / visual artist educated in filmmaking, living and working in the south of France. I have graduated from a BA in Image and Sound at UFSCar and an MA in Screen Directing at Central Saint Martins / UAL, London and have worked at a number of positions in the film industry. As I completed a decade working in the film sets, rather dissatisfied, I was reunited with photography and came to find in the still image a means to express myself on a more personal level.
In the age of technical excellence in digital imaging, which culminates in its proliferation and standardization, I am interested in the possibilities of photographic materiality, which opens the medium to itself and allows me to explore its limits. In the historical photographic processes, specially in the wet plate Collodion, I have found the ideal medium for an anti-capitalist, emancipatory practice, in which I own my means of production.
Currently, I am interested in breaking the convention of photographic transparency and escaping the pre-established programs of the camera. Identity, violence against women and migration are subjects often present in my work.
